2025 Spring Bucket List

2025 Spring Bucket List

We were driving the other day, the sky was grey threatening rain or snow when I saw the first daffodil of the season, a bright yellow against the grey/brown backdrop. Spring was then later confirmed with the sighting of crocuses on our walk yesterday, sun shining, wind blowing. Spring in our area is unpredictable but not unwelcomed.

Spring ushers in a challenge to embrace what is, while working toward what's next. It invites a gentle reset as we welcome a new season.

Our Spring Bucket List (Simple, Slow, and Full of Intention)

This year, instead of filling our calendar, we're endeavoring to be really intentional with our time. With healthy rhythms. With intentional presence. And space to wonder.

Here’s what we’re leaning into this spring:

Getting Outside (As Much As Possible)

Our son is begging for outside. After a long winter we all long for more time outside. This spring we're looking to get outside everyday. We may even start our own 1,000 hours outside to keep us accountable. We're looking to

  • Hike local trails
  • Find nearby waterfalls nearby and throw rocks in
  • Daily walks around our neighborhood or to our local playground, maybe even visit some new one playgrounds every week
  • Feed our birds in the morning and watch who visits

Visiting Places That Inspire Wonder

We are going to try to get back into the rhythm of weekly trips to local places, to explore and adventure. The goal is to spend unhurried time together.

  • Local nature centers
  • Local metro parks
  • Rivers, Ponds, Lakes
  • The zoo
  • The botanical garden

Starting Something New (Without Pressure)

This spring, we’re going to try out some new hobbies. I'm thinking watercolor painting with online videos. L is going to try a weekly ballet class, because she's been 'practicing' ever since we saw the Nutcracker in the fall.

Getting Back into Our Homeschool Rhythms

We've weaved in and out of learning rhythms this year. It's our first year homeschooling, I'm currently writing the curriculum while managing my photography business. We stepped back a bit in our winter study and I'm ready to step back in.

Knowledge Building

This season we'll be exploring ponds, rivers, and lakes. We're going to study the animals that live there, the plants that grow there, and the cycle and rhythm of water. We'll also be working our way through the New Testament Church in Acts.

 Skill Building

Our daughter is going to start learning her letters. I will have the work book I'm making for her available later this spring. We will continue line and shape work for fine motor, recognizing numbers to 10, counting 1:1 within 20 and solving story problems.

Our son is working on learning his colors and identifying shapes as well as expressing his emotions.

My Personal Spring Goals (Because Moms Get to Grow Too)

Some of these feel exciting. Some feel… overdue.

    • Running a 5K (something I’ve been wanting to do for a while)
    • Decluttering the garage (the final frontier)
    • Finishing writing our curriculum (this one feels really meaningful)

Just in a one step at a time kind of way.

If You’re Wondering What to Do This Spring…

Let me gently say this, you don’t need a packed bucket list or elaborate plans.

You just need a little intention.

    Ask yourself:

    • What would feel life-giving in this season?
    • Where can we slow down instead of speed up?
    • What do I want my kids to remember about these days?

Spring is so short. The puddles dry up. The flowers fade. The days shift again and before you know it, summer will arrive.

But right now—we have this window. To open the doors. To step outside. To lean into play and wonder and  begin again. And I don’t want to miss it.
